NBA League Pass Blackouts: Find the Right Way to Watch
If a game is blocked after you subscribe, first work out whether you have a rights restriction, a package mismatch or a technical problem. They need different fixes. Do not buy a second subscription until you identify the outlet carrying that specific game.
Start here: which message are you seeing?
- “Blacked out in your area”
- Check the game’s national and local listings. Use the official location checker; a restriction can be expected even when your subscription is active.
- “Subscribe” or “Upgrade”
- Check which account purchased the package and which service bills it. A channel subscription, a team-local package and League Pass are different purchases.
- A loading error or missing video
- Check the event date, service status and supported sign-in route. If the package should include it, contact the service with the error message and matchup.
How location affects League Pass
In the United States, local-team games and national broadcasts have restrictions on live League Pass access. In Canada, national broadcasts are restricted. Use the NBA’s current blackout guide for the rules and replay timing.
U.S. viewers can check their ZIP code on the League Pass package page. Canadian viewers should use the Canadian broadcast schedule. Your team playing on the road does not remove a home-market restriction.
Use a matchup, not a general subscription promise
Write down the date, both teams and the channel shown on the event. For example, if your local package works for one game but a different game directs you to a national outlet, compare the two listings. That can be a rights difference rather than a failed login. If the location appears wrong
Follow the NBA’s troubleshooting steps before changing purchases. Its help guide recommends checking another browser or platform and testing another connection. If you recently traveled, include that context when contacting support.
