Watching NBA Games With an Antenna: Team & Station Guide

Some local NBA games are available through over-the-air stations. Whether you can receive one depends on the station carrying the particular game and reception at your address. An antenna does not provide a streaming-only service or a cable sports network.

Find your team’s station first

This is a verified starting list, not a claim that other teams have no antenna broadcasts. See each team’s linked source and the station’s reception information.

Four checks before buying equipment

  1. Confirm the date. A selected-game broadcast agreement is not a full-season schedule. Open the official source on the team page and find the matchup.
  2. Find the station’s reception guidance. Check its coverage map, transmitter information and any subchannel instructions. A familiar station brand does not guarantee reception in another city.
  3. Check your TV setup. Follow your TV or tuner’s instructions for antenna input and channel scanning. Rescan if the station says its channel assignment changed.
  4. Test the station before tipoff. Confirm that the received channel shows the expected station and check its program guide. Reception can vary by building and antenna placement.

Examples where the exact channel matters

The Phoenix guide identifies a different station for the October 24 home opener than the usual local regular-season route. Charlotte divides local games between WSOC and TV64. The Clippers’ KTLA announcement covers a selected package rather than every regular-season game. Those distinctions are why our directory links to team-specific explanations instead of promising “all games free.”

If your team isn’t in the list

That does not prove there are no antenna games. Check the full local viewing directory for a newly announced partner or a selected-date exception. We require a named source before adding a station. If the game uses a regional cable network or a team-local stream, compare those routes with your existing subscriptions.

National broadcasts need a separate check

A local-team agreement does not override a national exclusive. For a game listed on a broadcast network, consult that station’s program guide for your market. A Peacock, Prime Video or cable-network label does not become an antenna broadcast merely because the same company owns a local station.

Need a different option? Build your team’s viewing plan. Found a new confirmed antenna game? Send the matchup and broadcaster source so we can check it.
